One
may think that good looking and well dressed men with a bright smile
would be a pleasant sight, but there are sometimes when they look out
of place. A cheesy smile like theirs gives the impression that they
should be in a toothpaste commercial. One of my MCAT tutors has one
such look. He wears the same outfit to every class. Khaki pants and an
olive green corderoy jacket with a tie, but his hair is done and he's
clean shaven with a sparkly white smile. I prefer the dishevelled Orgo
tutor over this guy.

Venus Versus Virus has an intriguing story line. I wouldn't call it the best action manga ever, but it's a good read. It's like a toned down shounen series. The chapters so far have introduced the characters, their 'powers' and the bad guys, Viruses, and have started an episodic plot line where every chapter is them fighting a new Virus. I guess the "toned down" part would be the fact that the main characters are both girls and one of them is kinda wimpy (although she's clearly more powerful, yeah that card is being played). Also, I LOVE the art. It's adorable. Similar to Watanabe Yoshitomo (Beyond the Beyond, Fun Fun Factory) but cleaner art and much cuter characters, if you could imagine such a thing. Anyway, this manga makes me giggle with joy when I see a new chapter was released. I also watched the first episode of the anime. It's garbage. Don't bother; it killed the story.
E's was always on the top of my must read list, it just was never out in english.... until now. Broccoli Books picked it up and the first book is out. I've forgotten how good this manga was until recently. It's got all my favorite things in there (psychic powers, like VVV) and riviting storyline that just won't let you stop reading. Not overwhelmingly complex though, because as we will soon learn, the characters are all intertwined. Must read. for anyone. Like Shoujo? shounen? Psychic powers? romance? Main character tribulation a la Cloud? It's there. It's awesome.
Shakugan no Shana was recently picked up by another scanslator or two, who have started pumping out chapters. In the anime, the romance got in the way of the action/storyline, but the manga has it set up to where the romance is starting to show up in the beginning, rather than in the anime it didn't show up until the very end when you just wanted the final battle to take place. Anywho, this manga has turned out to be an addicting surprise. Noiji Ito is a god. More specifically he is the god of loli. Shana is definitely a good story and and really addicting.
Kino No Tabi isn't really a manga. It's a light novel. But it's fucking amazing. Anyone who can sit outside on a nice day and not do anything but stare into space would love this. It's for people who are contemplative by nature and who think outside the box.
Current BLAH manga:
Fruits Basket. Wow. I got cheap and started reading scanslations and I'm not gonna give any spoilers away, but you can tell that Takaya Natsuki got sick of this manga and wanted it to be over with. The plot resolution seemed hasty, and Tohru got repetitive. That's all i'm gonna say. If you're already ass deep in it (like i was), I suggest you finish it (23 volumes!) but don't be expecting too much. Frustratingly enough for everyone, there's 136 chapters total and 135 have been translated. I'm not expecting a big bang though.
Anime blog? Maybe. I don't have a lot of time to sit and blog about anime anymore. But i would like to continue with my Pillow Book collection. Maybe i'll do that here.
